By now I think I can call apartment hunting in Da Nang my hobby. We are doing it every month, as we extend our visas for another 30 days. But hopefully starting August this will change.
Moving back to Da Nang
In July we moved back to Da Nang, Vietnam. While still in Hoi An in June, we went apartment hunting and found an apartment a bit away from City Centre of Da Nang, and we don’t see many foreigners around here.
Couple of days in, and we already knew we will have to go apartment hunting yet again. This one had an AC only in the bedroom. We thought it will be enough to cool the living room too. But it wasn’t. The window is on the sunny side, so it gets extra hot in the morning and during the day. Yet another lesson to learn.
I must say humidity/temperature definitely effects your productivity and how you feel overall. That ideal of living in the tropics, working on your laptop while sipping cocktails at the beach is totally unrealistic. You either sit in an air-conditioned room most of the time to keep your brain functioning. Or you are a lazy whale at the pool/beach.
This is something I already knew, as I’ve lived in Bangkok. But I feel many people still have the dream of working remotely from SE Asia, and that dream doesn’t include being in cold air-conditioned rooms all day long.

Apartment Hunting in Da Nang, Vietnam
We spent another week waking up early to drive around in Da Nang. This time decided not to give up early and settle into something temporary. And we found a good one! Close to the beach this time and with a pool. Let’s see how it will be there next month.

Trip to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
In beginning of July we went to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for a day.
We spent the whole day in Kuala Lumpur at the mall next to our apart hotel. We’ve lived in Malaysia for a month earlier this year, so all the main attractions of Kuala Lumpur we have seen already.

This time I felt like a person who is living in the village coming to big city, overwhelmed by the shopping possibilities. This makes you realize how much stimulation people living in big cities get. Everywhere you go – lots of food choices, new clothes, entertainment etc. You can’t walk for a minute without seeing an ad somewhere.

I still love big cities, but these realizations definitely made me think about how living in a skyscraper city actually affects people.
3 Month Visa in Vietnam
In July we also had great news. Finally 3 month tourist visas are available in Vietnam again! Here you will find more details.
Other events of the month were a day off at the beach, date night at one of the best pizzerias in Da Nang, and some motorbike rides to the supermarket (I count them as “events” 😅). Subscribe to my Instagram @meloolga for more pictures and videos from our daily life in Da Nang.
