10 Reasons to Visit Antalya, Turkey. Best things to see and do
How to get to Bodrum, Turkey by plane/bus?
To get to Bodrum you can come from nearby Milas Airport, and take a public bus.
Or if you’re traveling from Europe you can come from airport in Kos, Greece and take a 40 min ferry to Bodrum.
That’s what I actually like a lot about Turkey. The infrastructure and public transport is good and you can easily get to almost every popular location in the country by plane.

Bodrum itself seems very walkable and actually streets are so narrow it’s best to explore it on foot. There is taxi of course, we’ll talk about them later.
Bodrum turned out to be beautiful and different to Marmaris, where we went to before. White Houses make it look very cute. And just walking around was one of the best things to do in Bodrum, Turkey.

The tradition of walls painted white and blue is associated with the bug and scorpion repellent properties of lime, which is found in white paint. It is traditional to use it in most hot regions because of heat-reflecting properties of white color. And blue comes from the old belief that it protects against the envy.
Use of any paint other than white on the exterior walls of a building in Bodrum, Turkey was officially banned by Governor.
Weather in Bodrum, Turkey
The weather in Bodrum, Turkey is truly a delight. If you’re a sun worshipper, then you’ll love it here. The summers are hot and dry with temperatures that can rise to over 40°C (104°F), so keep yourself hydrated. You won’t want to miss out on all the sightseeing!

During the winter months, the weather cools down quite a bit, but it’s still pretty mild. You can expect temperatures between 10°C to 15°C (50°F to 59°F). If you’re into swimming, the sea is still pretty cold.
Overall, Bodrum is a fantastic spot for those who love warm weather and sandy beaches. Just be sure to check the weather forecast before heading out, so you don’t get caught in the rain. With its lovely weather and gorgeous beaches, Bodrum is definitely a must-visit destination.

Don’t underestimate Turkish sunshine 😉 If you want to spend time outside during the day always bring a hat, sunscreen and something to cover your shoulders.
Bodrum, Turkey Marina
At the Marina you will find a beautiful promenade, boat tours of course and restaurants.
During the day in the summer it’s too hot for a walk, not many people do it, but by the evening it will be crowded. Also quite some restaurants are here.

Restaurants in Bodrum, Turkey
I know sometimes going to a local restaurant can be intimidating. On one hand, you want to try traditional food and support local small businesses. On the other hand, you don’t want to be treated like a “stupid tourist” who doesn’t know prices.

My solution is to go to a small local place that is more in the back street and a bit away from the most popular locations. Ant when I am in a tourist “hot spot” I go for an established big brand restaurant. That way I know what to expect there and the bill will be fair.

At the Marina in Bodrum it is very touristy, so I go for the restaurants that I go to sometimes in Antalya too, Big Chefs. Although there was smith I didn’t expect still.
Best Things To Do in Bodrum, Turkey
There are so many fun and exciting things to do in Bodrum, you’ll never get bored. Whether you’re into sunbathing on the beach, exploring ancient ruins, or just enjoying a nice glass of Turkish tea, Bodrum has got you covered. Let’s dive into some of the best things to do in this beautiful Turkish city.

Bodrum City Walls
This is a great viewpoint without tourists! I was so happy to discover it. No entrance fees or fences, and all of Bodrum at your feet.
The walls served as the city’s defense. Today most remains are still buried underneath modern Bodrum but that some still stand.

Once the bus terminal and industrial sites are moved to a new location, the archeological team working in Bodrum plans unearth the walls and coliseum that lie beneath.
Next I wanted to check out public beaches and started with the one a bit away from the Castle.
Beaches in Bodrum, Turkey
My advice, for the best beach either stay at the 5 star hotel, or pay 200-500 TL to enter their territory (including drinks). Note that prices in Turkey are changing due to high inflation rates.
In Antalya situation with public beach is better. The whole of Konya 7km is public. In some areas there are sunless that you pay for, but also a lot of free areas.
Bodrum, Turkey Castle
Bodrum Castle is a fortress in the town of Bodrum, Turkey. It was built in the 15th century by a Catholic military order and has a long history. The castle has high walls and towers, with a view of the sea. Inside, visitors can explore courtyards, halls, and rooms, including a museum with artifacts from shipwrecks. The castle is popular with tourists and is located near Bodrum’s marina. It’s a must-see for history and architecture fans, and those who love the beauty of the Turkish coast.
Even if you’re not interested in history, you should check out Bodrum Castle for the views.

A transnational effort, the Bodrum Castle has four towers known as the English, French, German, and Italian towers (nations responsible for their construction). The castle was completed in the late 15th century, only to be taken over by the Ottoman Empire in 1523.
Castle of Bodrum keeps its original design and character of the Knights’ period and reflects Gothic architecture.
